WHERE: Three Shadows Photography Art Centre in Beijing, China

WHAT: Coal + Ice is a documentary photography exhibition featuring the work of 30 photographers from China, the United States, Canada, Malaysia, Russia, Hungary, Poland, Norway, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom, whose work, brought together here, visually narrates the hidden chain of actions triggered by mankind’s use of coal. This photographic arc moves from deep within the coal mines to the glaciers of the greater Himalaya where greenhouse gasses are warming the high altitude climate. As these mighty glaciers melt at an accelerated pace, the great rivers of Asia that flow from the Tibetan Plateau into the oceans are disturbed, and the lives of billions of people downstream are disrupted.

WHAT: IETM-Australia Council For The Arts - Open application for a Climate Commission

This is an open call to groups of artists and/or scientists in Australia and Europe to submit applications for the creation of a new artwork conceived in the context of climate change. Other than the quality of the idea and the experience of the team, the Commission has the criteria that the project is carbon-neutral. The achievement of this should be documented in the application. The specification of carbon neutrality does not require that offsets be purchased. The project instead offers a framework for exploration of the issues surrounding low carbon and the concept of carbon neutrality. Applicants should document how they would achieve carbon reduction, compared to a "business as usual" scenario and what partnerships they think would be needed to take their carbon reduction further.

DEADLINE: January 28th, 2011

WHEN: 1st October 2010 – 6th March 2011
WHERE: Museum of London – London
WHAT: "London Futures": an exhibition of 14 arresting images. Like postcards from the future, familiar views of the capital have been digitally transformed by GMJ illustrators Robert Graves and Didier Madoc-Jones.

The display brings home the full impact of global warming, food scarcity, rising sea levels and how all Londoners will need to innovate and adapt to survive.

Examples of the striking images that will be on show include Parliament Square put to work as a rice paddy, ice skating down the Thames, Buckingham Palace surrounded by a sea of shanty housing and the Gherkin occupied by thousands of eco-refugees highlight the shocking realities we could face.

The display and related events form part of the Mayor’s Story of London festival and is funded by Renaissance London.
